We don’t have to borrow another persona than our true self to be liked or valued, we are already valued for who we are. We have to see it first before anyone. Maybe we are liked even by people who don’t even know. Maybe was a person who saw you buying you a coffee and you smiled at the barista and it made a huge impact on their life, or the person who saw you when you helped a granny with her groceries- people see the world in you. The big challenge is to see ourselves first, and sometimes through our beloved one’s eyes.

Many people feel the urge to wear a mask, to hide their qualities or adopt any other behaviors just to maintain a connection. Well, when a connection is maintain because we are wearing a mask, one day it will fade away that mask and the connection. Stay true to yourself and who you are, authenticity is crucial in living the life you want. You don’t have to fit in everywhere, it’s ok. What it’s not ok is to try to not stay true to yourself.

Authenticity is a foster for real connections, cultivate openness and understanding. This, I know it is true. Notice what and who stays when you bring your authentic self. The way you see and embrace life, the way you smile at the people, the way you talk about your challenges and the way you speak to them how you make you feel. When we force ourselves to hide our feelings we get stocked and we become “acceptable”.. but we don’t want to be acceptable for something we aren’t, we have to be valued for our true self. And believe me, out there are a lot of people who are praying to meet people like you.

Building connections by wearing mask will rape your heart from meeting people who are searching for you and who are really compatible with your true self.

Start by building a relationship with yourself. It’s hard to embrace who you are when you don’t know who you are. It may be challenging to look back and accept the life you lived but it’s also a big challenge to accepte that now you have to embrace your strengths, values, different perspectives. It can be scary to be different from the person you was one year ago, but it’s refreshing for the system to step out the comfort zone. Actually the comfort zone is the brain programmed to fitting it. We have to live our life from our terms and beliefs. By being authentic is the only way to connect at a deeper level with others, especially with the beloved’s.

It’s ok if people don’t understand who you are and maybe they are not ready to see your presence or your qualities. If someone didn’t see us, well… those qualities are still there and maybe they will be gone. Please remember this, you are not a piece of work who need to be liked- you are a human being who needs to feel loved, appreciated with all your imperfections and flaws. Don’t hide them, don’t hide yourself.

One day I understood,

By staying true to myself it was the first step to a more fulfilling life.

Stay near people who encourage to show your true colors. Pursue your dreams and aspirations, stay true to who you are. By being who you truly are, you inspire others to be themselves- and this is the most major impact we can leave in the world.
